Are you an experienced cost accountant ready to make an impact in a dynamic and growing biotech environment? Our client—a cutting-edge bioprocessing firm located just outside Washington, D.C.—is looking for a Cost Accountant to join their Financial Operations team. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive on collaboration with operations, value data integrity, and enjoy both hands-on accounting and strategic analysis.
What You’ll Do
Own and enhance the cycle count program : conduct audits, analyze metrics, and drive inventory accuracy
Be the finance lead on product configuration (BOMs, Routers, Item Masters, standard cost updates)
Analyze standard cost roll-ups, variances, and support month-end close activities
Prepare journal entries, inventory reconciliations, and ensure GAAP compliance
Assist in budgeting, forecasting , and maintaining monthly operations KPIs
Partner closely with manufacturing to solve real-time costing and accounting challenges
Support annual audit preparation and provide cost and inventory reporting
Help drive internal controls and support continuous improvement in financial processes
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA or CPA is a plus)
4+ years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing (biotech or bioprocessing preferred)
Strong ERP system experience (JD Edwards a plus)
Advanced Excel skills; confident in variance analysis, ad hoc modeling, and reporting
Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities
Confident communicator who thrives in a cross-functional environment
Proven ability to work with confidential data and build strong interdepartmental relationships
