The Reg Rad Tech performs age-specific radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures for diagnosing and treating anatomic and physiologic disorders. Assists in supervising ancillary personnel.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Reviews physician orders, checking for special instructions, consults with the radiologist when necessary, greets and identifies the patient, and explains the procedure to the patient and/or family member. Provides additional patient education as appropriate.
  • Performs appropriate radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures based on the age of the patient served. This requires demonstrating correct anatomy through proper patient positioning, selecting techniques, administering contrast media, and applying immobilization and radiation protection devices according to department policy and procedure.
  • Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies for the assigned workstation, equipment maintenance, and quality control, which includes visual safety inspections, warm-up procedures, and quality control activities.
  • Updates patient history, records unusual conditions, documents examination time, and verifies the accuracy of procedures to be billed.
  • Utilizes department/hospital communication equipment and/or procedures.
  • Provides instruction for students, radiologic technologists, and others as required or requested.

 

Education:
Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences or Radiologic Technology program required.

 

Experience:
Previous radiologic experience preferred.

 

Licensure/Certification:
Current registry/or registry pending with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, RT(R), current radiation operator’s certification (general or temporary license) issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky required. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of the hire date required.
