Senior Accountant
Location: St. Louis, MO
Reports to: Controller (TBD) and Fractional CFO (Peter Britt)

Role Overview
The Senior Accountant plays a key role in the integrity of Deli Star’s financial systems, reporting accuracy, and internal controls. This role supports month-end close, reconciliation, and compliance while partnering cross-functionally to improve cash management, cost visibility, and plant-level accountability.
You’ll work closely with the Controller, CFO, and CEO on audit readiness, cash forecasting, and system optimization—with a clear runway to grow into a Controller role. This is a high-impact opportunity for a detail-oriented and growth-driven finance professional ready to step into leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Month-End Close & General Ledger Integrity
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules

Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Maintain and update fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations
2. Financial Reporting & Internal Controls
- Support financial statement preparation and variance analysis

Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control standards
- Partner with the Controller on audit preparation and reporting
3. Cash Management & Working Capital Support
- Track and reconcile daily cash activity and bank balances

Support AR/AP tracking and working capital optimization
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Operations Support
- Partner with Cost Accounting and Plant Ops to align financials with production and yield data

Reconcile inventory and review cycle counts with Supply Chain and Operations
- Support profitability and KPI reporting through Excel and PowerBI dashboards
5. Systems & Process Improvement
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate accounting workflows
- Support ERP transitions and enhancements related to finance and operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)

4+ years of progressive experience in general accounting or FP&A

Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards

Proficiency with Excel, ERP systems (NetSuite, Workday, or similar), and reporting tools
- Manufacturing or food industry experience strongly preferred
