Full job description
Reconciles intercompany (municipal due to due from) accounts. Approve new general ledger accounts in conformance with RIDEs Uniform Chart of Accounts and maintain financial statement reporting structures. Manage fixed asset accounts. Ensure that all grants are in compliance with OMB Circulars and any other fiscal requirements related to revenue and expense recognition practices. Assist in the preparation and submission of all grant reimbursement requests by due dates.
Assist with budget development and reporting. Build, refine and maintain financial models to inform key business decisions. Work with the school principals to help manage school budgets. Prepare monthly reports for all schools and meet with the principals as necessary.
Responsible for developing Internal Control Policies and procedures for financial management. Attend staff, board, district and school committee meetings as required. All relevant department duties as assigned by Director of Finance. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Working knowledge of district and school rules, state and federal regulations, and policies applicable to area of assignment. Ability to work effectively with district personnel, administrators, staff, parents, outside agencies, other school districts, and the community in a confidential manner.
Must be highly detailed and organized. Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives. Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Government accounting software experience preferred.
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance creativity, problem solving, and results. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Fully qualified CPA/CMA/MBA Previous financial control and management reporting experience Must be confident, a self-starter, with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment Demonstrate strong attention to detail, good judgement, logical decision making and a hands-on approach PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The use of a step stool may be required to reach the top drawer of a filing cabinet as necessary. Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision.
