Job Responsibilities

General Responsibility:
Serve as an accountant/fiscal analyst for the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED); performs accounts receivable duties, responsible for cashier operations and functions, manually maintain and update records of all money received, create invoices for AR billing, receive and process payment, prepare bank deposits and journal entries, develop methods for recording and monitoring financial transactions and direct the preparation of financial reports, performs other related duties as needed.

Specific Duties:

  • Collect money daily from various departments. Verify checks total, prepare daily deposits, scan, process and post into SCEIS. Weekly bank runs and daily desktop scanning for depositing of all checks. Handle returned checks from State Treasurer’s Office and reconciles SCEIS report to make sure the balance is zero.
  • Create accounts receivable invoices, including companies, one-time customers, and State Agencies. Process transactions accurately with correct accounting assignments and proper coding. Reconcile general ledger. Prepare journal entries for moving funding sources or for corrections. Write and record checks for agents requesting funds in the discretionary account.
  • Ability to proficiently apply mathematical concepts. Record and distribute monthly interest to individual accounts for each case. Maintain and update the log of all Interest-Bearing Accounts. Reconcile the log with State Treasurer’s report and SCEIS report monthly. Verify paperwork and review all money submitted by agents for various programs.
  • Maintain and update two separate logs for US Treasury and US Justice for Equitable Sharing Program. Check IPP system and E-share system daily to identify all wire transfers from Federal for Equitable Sharing Program, Grants draw down funds, and overtime reimbursements. Request the reports from the US Treasury and US Justice to reconcile with SLED book, State Treasurer’s Statement, and SCEIS reports.
  • Order supplies through SCEIS and Inventory Warehouse. Prepares closing packages and financial reports. Assists manager with other required responsibilities.

 

Minimum and Additional Requirements

 

  • Position cannot be filled until on or after July 02, 2025.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting/Auditing or related major.
  • Ability to perform professional duties in the creation and maintenance of accounting records, the verification and documentation of financial transactions.
  • Analyzing transactions in specific accounts, including operating revenues, grant programs, etc.
  • Ability to perform and apply mathematical computations and concepts.
  • Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications and Adobe.
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, practices, and procedures.
  • The ability to communicate effectively.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience in SCEIS/SAP is preferred.
