Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • At least two (2) years or accounting or related work experience

Working Hours: This position may require evening and/or weekend hours as needed due to workload.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Establishes and maintains all College grant files and records, including grant financial ledgers.
  • Enters original and amended grant budgets into Peoplesoft, maintains as needed.
  • Prepares journal entries, budget amendments, and general ledger account reconciliations for assigned area.
  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of all applicable fiscal reports for College Grants and ensures the timely submission thereof.
  • Coordinates with key personnel at all levels of the College to support proper and timely expenditure of grant funds in compliance with applicable guidelines and budget deadlines.
  • Monitors, calculates, and coordinates with Payroll, salaries and salary increases for staff being paid from federal, state, and private grants.
  • Assist Grant Coordinator with preparation of quarterly, annual Department of Education reporting such as SEFA, 399 and 499 Financial Reports.
  • Month end responsibilities include assisting with assigned Fund budget to actual analysis, preparation of budget amendments and journal entries in Peoplesoft, assuring correct use of DOE Accounting Manual chart of account object codes and subfunds.
  • Year-end responsibilities include compilation of grant and account reconciliation workpapers as support for audits and analysis of Other Governmental Receivable, Prepaids, or other assigned schedules to support the College’s annual financial report.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

 

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of accounting software and database data extraction
  • Provide a high degree of computerized accounting experience
  • Ability to work with accounting personnel as well as other departments to gain information and ensure accuracy of accounting transactions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
