General Description
The purpose of this class within the organization is to performs accounting tasks such as account analysis, journal entries, and developing financial statements.
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Prepares monthly accounts receivables.
- Prepares and submits bank reconciliations.
- Reviews assigned Fund Accounts, reconciles assets and liabilities and reviews revenues and expenditures.
- Monitors capital projects funds; analyzes contract payments and retainage; monitors invoices payable for accuracy; reviews all entries to revenues and expenses; reviews budget balances; generates reports.
- Monitors capital asset funds; monitors additions, disposals and deletions; calculates depreciation.
- Prepares annual financial reports for capital projects.
- Create budget reports for new grants.
- Monitors and reports grant expenditures and support documents.
- Distributes revenue to and from assigned funds.
- Reviews payroll for accuracy and compliance with policies and procedures; posts final payroll to the general ledger; posts accounts payable batch for payroll vendor’s checks; monitors payroll shortages and overages.
- Reconciles quarterly IRS 941 reports.
- Assists in the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor’s degree.
- Requires two years’ experience in government accounting, general finance operations or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses:
Prefers CPA or CIA.

Salary Range: $50,561.00 – $63,240.00
