Physical Requirements
Sitting at computer for extended periods of time, repetitive motion, and general lab duties. Lifting, pushing, pulling of objects up to 50 lbs.
Shift
Days; Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Weekend or holiday work may be required in rare instances.
Job Summary
The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL) seeks a Laboratory Technician Senior.
VDL develops and applies state-of-the-art diagnostic methodology to improve animal health and marketability, to protect the public health and to assist in the preservation of the human-animal bond through the principles of One Health.
The Laboratory Technician Senior is responsible for day-to-day testing in a high-volume laboratory setting with the purpose of monitoring and diagnosis of disease in animals, while safeguarding the health of the animal population. Duties will primarily consist of poultry testing in serology (ELISA, Plate Agglutination, AGID) and molecular biology (PCR) sections as well as bacteriology (culture and ID). Responsible for reporting results and verifying all required information on submitted regulatory forms (state and federal).
