Kennedys, a global law firm with offices throughout the US, seeks a full-time Paralegal with solid insurance defense litigation experience related to NY law to join our team in our New York City Office. This is a really exciting opportunity for an ambitious Paralegal to join a growing, global law firm.

Insurance Defense Litigation

Key responsibilities

  • Ability to review medical records and add relevant dates/information to the medical chronology
  • Prepare discovery motions (Motions to Extend Discovery, Motion to Compel Discovery and Motion Dismiss Complaint for Plaintiff’s Failure to Provide Discovery)
  • Experience reviewing Plaintiff’s Answers to Interrogatories
  • Schedule and coordinate IME’s for plaintiff
  • Research (Westlaw preferred) and other online sources
  • Assist in retention of experts
  • Prepare HIPPA Authorization Forms for Plaintiff’s execution and return
  • Retrieval of medical records from providers
  • Follow-up with providers to ensure receipt of records of HIPPA request
  • Perform Jury Verdict Searches using Westlaw
  • Preparation of appeals, motions and privilege logs
  • Production of documents
  • Shepardizing [blue booking]cases

Our ideal candidate should have

  • 10+ years of relevant experience [Insurance Defense Litigation]
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience drafting/posting billable time entries [annual billing requirement is 1400 hours] – Experience with Elite, a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills and a keen attention to detail
  • Must be able to manage large case load
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Thorough working knowledge of and experience working the Federal and New York court system
  • Experience drafting and entering time entries
  • Experience with Westlaw, Lexis, PACER, iManage, and records collection vendors
  • College graduate and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA accredited program preferred or relevant years of experience.
  • Ability to work 3 days in Manhattan office/2 days at home

The annualized salary range for this role is $82,000-$95,000. However, this is contingent upon level of experience, practice group, location and other job-related factors permitted by law.
