STAFF ACCOUNTANT
(Non-exempt Employee)
Purpose of the Job:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the processing of accounts payable, and the performance of other accounting and administrative duties as designated below.
Scope of Responsibility:
Work performed in an office setting.
Essential Job Functions:
- Processes invoices to include external invoices, internal check requests and internal employee expense reimbursement requests for proper approval, completeness and compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Maintains vendor payment files.
- Secures W-9s for accounts payable vendors.
- Performs accounts payable allocations.
- Produces and distributes 1099s.
- Mails and/or distributes payroll checks.
- Maintains and reconciles petty cash.
- Assists in compiling and preparing information for grant billing.
- Provides clerical and research assistance which includes, but not limited to, scanning, attaching, filing, copying, shredding, and archiving.
- Provides back-up for other accounting staff.
- Assists with budget preparation.
- Assists in compiling information for independent audit.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:Job Requirements:
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business and a minimum of one year of relevant work experience with comparable responsibilities.
- Must have knowledge of computerized accounts systems, preferably fund accounting.
- Should have experience working in an organization with multiple office sites.
- Should have a high level of energy and be comfortable performing multifaceted projects with day-to-day activities.
- She/he must be well organized and can work independently.
- Experience working in a non-profit organization is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, or handle, objects, tools, controls, or equipment; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; drive.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

- The Staff Accountant will work with his/her supervisor to develop goals within program priorities and funding; and work with supervisor to identify individual training needs.3. The Staff Accountant will account for 100% of his/her time using LAWV time sheets on a bi-weekly basis.
